After taking time out from college studying photography & Media James started cooking professionally.
With over 21 years of cooking for the likes of Alistair Little in London and Stephen Markwick, he decided in 2007 to go solo opening The Butchers Arms with his wife Elizabeth.

Originally from Bristol Elizabeth’s career started early at just 16 in Bristol’s four star hotels,before moving onto Martin Blunos’ Lettonie, Prue Leiths in London, Stephen Markwicks & The Halkin Belgravia.
Moving back to the West Country in 2007 to open The Butchers Arms which she runs with husband James.
Olivia has been a fabulous member of the team here at the pub for the past 5 years, having just finished her A levels she joins us full time whilst enjoying a well earned gap year.
Laura Dudfield, Assistant Manager
Laura has been an integral member of The Butchers Arms since 2008, gaining promotion to assistant manager in 2012. Her vast array of experience ensures service is friendly, efficient and unpretentious.
