“After a long day of climbing the Malvern Hills and building up a need for spiritual (read alcohol) and physical (read food) refreshment my Mum (god bless her) had booked us in for dinner at the Butchers Arms. I was not disappointed. Upon arrival we received a very friendly greeting and grabbed a nice unusual Austrian White, recommended by staff. It was lovely and a great drop....stage one spiritual refreshment achieved! Moving on to stage two we indulged in Smoked Duck, Salt Cod Scotch Egg and a beautifully cooked Chateaubriand (special for the night). It was all delightful. We finished with the cheese and mission completed. Both body and mind replenished by the food and drink, but especially the service which was also fantastic. Thank you for a great evening, it was worth the trip from Chelmsford”

“I only visited this restaurant last night 04th August but felt compelled to write a review!! From a warm and friendly welcome to absolutely fantastic mouth-watering food, you will not go wrong by booking a table at the Butchers Arms! Very well catered for one of our party with a nut allergy with everything clearly explained. We could have eaten every dish on the menu, but I must say that the fillet was cooked to perfection that I could have cut it with a spoon. All washed down with a great bottle of red and Wye Valley cask ale. Will definitely be back to try the midweek menu. So what are you waiting for...”

“The last time I wrote a review was 3 years ago. I only write a review when there is something really special to write about. Amazing as it is, I have a good friend who shares the same Birthday as I do. So we decided to celebrate the occasion by going out for a meal. I searched the internet to try to find a suitable looking Restaurant within reasonable driving time, and one we had not been to before. from previous experience I know this can be hit or miss, so I was a careful as possible to pick one that would seem to fit our requirements. I finally decided that the one that looked the most promising was “ The Butcher’s Arms“, at Eldersfield, Gloucestershire, located midway between Gloucester and Tewksbury. Their reviews looked promising, and the photos of some of their dishes looked very inviting. I also noted that this is a family run business, owned by Mark and Jo -Anne Block. When I booked the table, I was asked the reason for the visit, I wrote, “Birthday“, and when shown to our table by Jo -Anne, we were delighted to find it decorated with little “ Happy Birthday “ stickers, a nice touch. We chose 2 starters, Salt cod Scotch egg, and Trealy Farm smoked duck, switching plates halfway through ! The Scotch egg was just wonderful, so tasty, and as someone else has written, definitely a classic in the making. We both chose the Hereford beef fillet for our mains, which was very nice and cooked exactly to our requirements. For pudding we both could not resist the Chocolate ganache, honeycomb, caramel ice cream & pistachio, as scrumptious as it sounds, and each plate had a lit candle . We chose a glass of house wine, a Cote du Rhone to accompany the steak, it was just right. The restaurant was fully booked, had a warm and friendly feel, the food was excellent, the service also , and whilst the bill was quite expensive, it was well worth it, and we will definitely be going there again, probably to sample the midweek set menus. We learned that the menus change daily, and they do their best to source their ingredients locally. I am happy give this restaurant a top 5 star rating , which is well deserved.”
